    Hi,

I’m having an update problem with my domain https://tinadubinsky.com.

I’m not sure if this happened last time, or the time before but I believe it’s happened at least once since I moved the domain to a new host.  At the time I requested new keys etc, especially as I went from http to https.

I’ll take you through the steps that I just tried:

    Goto Plugins list.

    Click on check for update.

Check for an update which takes me back to the list and there’s an update available.

Click on update. It starts to do its thing.  I then get an error message to say “Update Failed: Plugin update failed”

I’m not sure if I clicked on something or the page refreshed but the next message I receive is “The plugin bulletproof-security/bulletproof-security.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.”

I then FTP’d into the site to see what was happening.  The Bullet Proof directory still exists, click on that and there’s an admin folder with a htaccess folder and inside the htaccess folder three files relating to plugins.

I think the last time this happened, I just redownloaded it from this site and installed it fresh (using the keys etc that I already have for when I moved it). Sorry I’m a bit vague on this – I think I need to start keeping site logs for maintenance. So, I guess my next steps are to do this again.  I’m just worried it’s going to keep happening as I don’t know what the cause of it is.

The WordPress “Update Failed: Plugin update failed” simply means that the WordPress Plugin Upgrader class failed or the WordPress Plugin installer API failed or your Host server temporarily lost connectivity or hiccupped.  Delete the /bulletproof-security/ plugin folder using FTP or your web Host control panel file manager and then install the BPS Pro zip file using the WordPress Plugin upload zip installer.
