Hi, I’m having trouble – can’t save any custom code (getting a 403). Still an issue when I disable root and admin security modes, also with all other plugins disabled. I’m just wanting to add a standard http to https redirect to Rewrite Loop Start (same as all my other sites, most on the same host). Confused as I’ve added other custom code to this site in the past without issue. I’ve searched here – seen the post about 403 error codes, but can’t find any specific fix – most 403 forum posts seem to involve adding custom code… I’ve temporarily worked around it by FTP and manual editing of the root htaccess file, but I’d rather it was via Custom Code.

Sounds like a very common Mod Security problem > https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/mod-security-common-known-problems/.  Check the BPS System Info page under Apache Modules|Directives|Backward Compatibility(Yes|No)|IfModule(Yes|No):.  If Mod Security is enabled on your server/website then you will see either 403: mod_security2 Module is Loaded|Enabled or 403: mod_security Module is Loaded|Enabled.  If Mod Security is enabled then login to your host control panel and disable it.

Thank you, it has 403: mod_security2. I can’t do that from the control panel so I’m waiting for the site owner to give me access to raise a support ticket.

Still a little confused – does BPS pro work the same way? I have BPS Pro on my own site (same host), also with 403: mod_security2 and I can save custom code without problems (as I could with this site in the past).

Mod Security comes with default SecRules/SecFilters.  A web host can add additional SecRules and SecFilters.  The default set of rules for Mod Security does not cause any problems for BPS.  The additional rules that are created for newer versions of cPanel do create problems for BPS.  See this forum topic link for more help information about Mod Security > https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/mod-security-common-known-problems/

Thank you. Still waiting on hosting access, I may be back.
