BPS Pro and Vaultpress

I’m surprised that Vaultpress does not have that capability.  I guess it’s designed as a “bulk” file backup kind of thing.  The problem that Vaultpress is running into is the BPS plugin has built-in self-protection and intentionally protects all of its own plugin folders.  It probably would not be that difficult to figure out a solution for a typical plugin, but Vaultpress is not your typical plugin and instead does stuff from their API servers.  So you cannot really fiddle around with or test things from your website as you have already found out. 😉
