I am using the Newsletter WordPress plugin to allow users of my site (www.wpspandc.com.au) to subscribe to our mailing list, and since I have installed the BPS Security plugin, the double-opt-in subscription process has stopped working correctly. Although the entered email address gets correctly captured at the back end of the website when the user clicks on the Subscribe button (indicating that the subscription process itself is working ok), the redirect afterwards is no longer working, and the user sees a “Content not found” message afterwards. The URL they are at when they see this message is http://www.wpspandc.com.au/wp-content/plugins/newsletter/do/subscribe.php

I have tried completely deleting and reinstalling the Newsletter plugin from scratch, but the problem still exists. My hosting provider has told me they can see errors in the error log today which say “Premature end of script headers: subscribe.php, referer: http://www.wpspandc.com.au/” – one error for each attempt I have made at subscribing.

According to the plugin developer, the issue is with the redirect after the subscription has happened. A similar error occurs when a user tries to unsubscribe by clicking on an unsubscribe link in one of my newsletters.

Having seen posts on this forum about issues with 404 redirects, I wondered if there is some custom code I need to add to the BPS settings to enable this subscription process to work like it used to.

The strange thing is, this issue is occurring even though I currently have BPS Root Folder BulletProof Mode Deactivated (i.e. effectively disabled).

    Can you please advise me?

If you have done the BPS troubleshooting steps below and the problem is still occurring then BPS is not causing the issue and you would then do the standard WordPress troubleshooting steps:  deactivate plugins one by one to check if another plugin is causing the issue and switch your Theme temporarily to see if it is your Theme causing the issue.

The other troubleshooting/diagnostic tool in BPS is the Security Log.  The Security Log logs blocked hackers, spammers, scrapers, miners, etc. and also logs any errors that are caused by BPS blocking something in another plugin.  If you do not see any log entries for the Newsletter plugin in your BPS Security Log then BPS is not blocking anything in that plugin.
