In the File Manager of my cpanel, I have many .ht files (not .htaccess) (about 2000). I have Bulletproof installed. Are these .ht files associated with Bulletproof Security? Many of the files begin with .ht87. The file size of these files is 0.
I have scanned my site with sucuri, and the site has not been compromised.
BPS creates .htaccess files only. I am not really sure what would create an .ht87 file since that is not a standard file name. Maybe something on your host server is not configured correctly or this is something specific to your particular host or maybe another plugin that you have installed is creating these files. Check with your web host and see if they know what these files are. Logical guesses would be the files have something to do with either “tmp”, session or cache files and they have a customized/unique filename that is not an industry standard file naming convention.
