Hi, I hope you can help with a redirect problem on my site https://www.mysite.com.au/.

Non-existent URLs are going to a valid URL instead of returning a 404 not found  The name of the sub-directory is being replaced by some random word not on my site.

For example a valid page on my site is https://mysite.com.au/other-collections /dahlias/

When ‘other-collections’ is replaced by random words not on my site followed by the letter ‘d’ like so: https://mysite.com.au/nonexistentword/d, this goes to a valid page titled Dahlias instead of generating a 404.

What might be the cause and how can I fix it? My HT Access below.

Thank you for your time, any help greatly appreciated.

This additional Rewrite htaccess code below in Custom Code text box:  1. CUSTOM CODE TOP PHP/PHP.INI HANDLER/CACHE CODE needs to be deleted.  You already have https/ssl Rewrite code in Custom Code text box:  8. CUSTOM CODE WP REWRITE LOOP START.  I would need to see your actual 301 Redirect htaccess code in order to provide an answer.  Post that code in your forum reply.

Thanks so much for the prompt response, much appreciated!  I deleted the code as suggested.

I searched 301 from the cpanel file: /home/mysitename/public_html/.htaccess and posted that.  If there is another place I should look please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

I assume that you have created 301 redirect htaccess code somewhere that is causing this. ie another htaccess file under your hosting account or in cPanel or in a plugin that does redirects.  The Rewrite loop htaccess code that you posted above would not cause this issue.  Check your hosting account for other htaccess files.  Check cPanel tools for any redirect htaccess code.  If you are using any plugins that do redirects then check that plugin’s settings for any redirect rules that could be causing this issue.

Thank you for your reply.  I have not created 301 redirects in cpanel or elsewhere, not being a coder.  But I will look into your suggestions though.

Thanks again, greatly appreciate your help.
