A couple of years ago my client discontinued selling her fine art prints on her website, so I put a redirect from the sales pages to a gallery page in BPS Custom Code. This week she decided to make her prints available for a limited time. I just republished the page under a password and removed the 301 Redirect, but the page is still redirecting. I’ve checked .htaccess to make sure the old redirect had been removed; checked the the canonical assigned to the page and it’s correct; also cleared the entire cache of the site and my browser cache; then viewed the page in an incognito window. It’s still redirecting to the gallery page. I’m not sure how to check anything else on the page to see why this could be occurring. What advice can you give me? We’ve already sent out the email to her followers that they can purchase prints, so I need to get this working as soon as I can.

    Thanks so much!

To confirm or eliminate that the redirect is coming the from the root htaccess file deactivate Root Folder BulletProof mode.

Yes, that made the page available. I just discovered that I had split (or inadvertently duplicated) the redirects, with some and the top and some at the bottom of the window where they couldn’t be seen. I’ve removed all the duplicates (including the one that was causing the trouble) and it’s working now. Thanks so much for you very helpful reply!

Clear your browser cache and try again. If the issue persists, check your server configuration or .htaccess file for any remaining redirect rules.

I faced a similar issue with redirects on my site, Cheezious Menue. After removing a 301 redirect, the page continued to redirect. To fix this, I cleared both the browser and server caches, reviewed the .htaccess file and server settings to ensure no residual redirect rules were present, and purged the CDN cache. Additionally, I checked and updated any CMS plugins related to redirects. If you’re encountering the same problem, these steps might be helpful in resolving it.

I’ve encountered a similar issue with redirects on my site,  Al Baik Menues. Initially, after removing a 301 redirect, I noticed that the page was still redirecting. Here’s how I resolved it:

    1. Cleared Browser Cache: I started by clearing my browser’s cache, as sometimes old redirect information can be stored and cause confusion.
    2. Checked Server Cache: I also cleared any server-side cache. In my case, this was crucial as the server was still serving the old redirect.
    3. Reviewed Redirect Rules: I double-checked my .htaccess file to ensure there were no lingering redirect rules. It turned out there was an extra rule I had missed.
    4. Verified CDN Cache: Since I was using a CDN, I purged the CDN cache as well to make sure no cached redirects were being served.
    5. CMS Plugins: Lastly, I reviewed any CMS plugins that handle redirects and made sure they were properly configured or disabled if no longer needed.

If you’ve removed a 301 redirect but the page is still redirecting, it could be due to browser caching or server-side configurations. Browsers often cache 301 redirects since they are permanent, meaning users may continue to experience the redirection even after it’s removed from the server. Clearing the browser cache or trying the page in an incognito window can help resolve this. Additionally, server configurations such as .htaccess files, DNS settings, or CDN caching might still have the redirect in place, requiring you to clear or update those Streamlining Device Lifecycle Management as well. Double-check all possible caching layers and server settings to ensure the redirect is fully removed.
