I have been using BPS Pro for the last 11 years, ever since my sites got hacked in 2012 and I can’t fault the product or the support, but over that time my sites have undergone a lot of changes (including many plugin changes) and I am about to switch to a new host (Siteground) who claim that they have a lot of extra security features built in.

What I want to do is to uninstall BPS Pro (at least initially) so I can eliminate unnecessary files/folders and restructure my sites, but I wanted to be sure before doing so that the “standard” WordPress .htaccess files will be restored and used if I deactivate and uninstall BPS Pro. Please can you confirm this for me?

My main reason for moving host is for site speed and performance, so I want to start as clean as possible and only add back what is necessary.

Thank you very much for an excellent plugin, I haven’t been hacked since it was installed in 2012.

Removes all BPS Pro plugin files, database data for the BPS Pro plugin and restores the default WordPress .htaccess files.
Deactivate the BPS Pro plugin on the WordPress Plugins page.
Delete the BPS Pro plugin on the WordPress Plugins page.
Then manually delete this folder: /wp-content/bps-backup/ using FTP or your web host control panel file manager.

Thank you very much. Fast support as always.

I suspect I might be back, depending on what the new host situation looks like as far as security, but a clean install of BPS Pro can’t hurt.
