    Just wondering, have you seen the article from Search Engine Journal? They said WPEngine is ending support for htaccess directives in Oct 2022.

    What do you think?

    The end the article pondering if other hosting companies will follow suit.

    Just wanted to let you know as well since it may obviously have an effect on your business.

    Interesting.  Yeah I could see other Managed Website Hosting companies like WPEngine discontinue allowing .htaccess files, but I seriously doubt that Hosts who offer Shared Hosting would do that.  The Apache statement regarding using .htaccess files vs server config files has and will always be misinterpreted.  Apache advises using htaccess code in the server config files if you have root admin access to the server over using .htaccess files.  Nothing more and nothing less.
