    Email Question:

    Hi,
    SERVER TYPE: DESKTOP SERVER
SERVER API: I’m not sure, but I/m using DESKTOP SERVER LOCALHOST

I installed your plugin, and it instructed me that the wp-admin needs a htaccess.php file. I’ve been trying to place that file in the wp-admin folder, but each time I type .htaccess.php, I get the dialog that says, “YOU MUST TYPE A FILE NAME.” Once Iclick OK, the “.” goes away and only “htaccess.php” remains. How do I get the .htaccess.php file loaded? Thanks.

Windows requires that you add a valid file name in this format:  file name + file extension name.  So if you try to create an .htaccess file and save it Windows will generate the error message:  You must type a file name.  You should only use either Notepad or Notepad++ to create .htaccess files.  Word and WordPad will corrupt .htaccess files since the format is not the correct format for .htaccess files.

The simplest way to work with .htaccess files on your Windows computer is this:

Use Notepad and then choose File Save As, filename: .htaccess, Save as Type: All Files, Encoding:  ANSI and click the Save button.
