The Core functionality of ARQ Automation is still the same. Improvements|Enhancements and additional Theme upgrade and installation automation handling were added for both standard single site and Network|Multisite installations of WordPress. The displayed BPS Pro AutoRestore (ARQ) Automatic Shutdown & Backup Notice has been changed. The ARQ successful completion Notice has been changed. WordPress Automatic update Security Log logging minor format|text changes.

[Easily Confused]

This sounds good, but I am confused.

All of the top level messaging associated with this update says that v7.7 makes everything to do with AutoRestore completely automatic. This is great, as this feature has previously been too complicated for me to use.

HOWEVER – the above examples of new BPS Pro messages that will appear during updates include:

Does this mean that part of this process is, in fact, NOT completely automated after all?

ARQ Automation is completely automated, but in order to factor in every possible scenario and allow WordPress to do what it needs to do (without interfering with that process), display WP messages to users and most importantly to ensure that the user initiated manual Theme or Plugin update/installation actually completed successfully before starting the rest of the AutoRestore Automation (ARQ is ONLY turned Off in phase 1 of ARQ Automation for user initiated manual Theme and Plugin update/installation), we have intentionally halted the rest of the AutoRestore automation for Theme and Plugin updates ONLY so that users will see all of the WordPress messages:  plugin or theme was installed successfully or not, other WordPress messages, etc. before continuing with the rest of the ARQ Automation.

The WordPress update process is completely automated since AutoRestore Automation can be dynamic in this scenario without the possibility of a failed WordPress update/upgrade – ARQ will automatically shut itself down if the WordPress update/upgrade does not complete successfully.

After clicking the link, AutoRestore will continue ARQ Automation:  backup files, do file backup verification/success checks, check for files that need to be locked again, clear/synchronize any log alerts and timestamps, synchronize the current WP version, etc etc etc etc……….. and then Turn ARQ back On after everything has been verified / checked and is ok.
