Hi folks.
I tried to login to the backedn of WP this morning but I am geting this error:
403 Forbidden Error Page
If you arrived here due to a search or clicking on a link click your Browser’s back button to return to the previous page. Thank you.
Can anyone help please?AITpro AdminKeymasterAre you using IP blocking htaccess code in your root htaccess file? Do you have backend Maintenance Mode enabled? Do the steps below, login to your site and remove/delete the custom code from BPS Custom Code that is causing the problem.
BPS Pro Troubleshooting steps: https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/read-me-first-pro/#bps-pro-general-troubleshooting
htaccess File Troubleshooting Steps: Unable to Login to Your Website:
Note: If you have AutoRestore turned On/activated then you will need to delete this file first: /wp-content/bps-backup/autorestore/root-files/auto_.htaccess and then delete the .htaccess file in your WordPress installation folder (same folder as your wp-config.php file).
1. Use FTP or your Web Host Control Panel File Manager and delete the .htaccess file in your website root folder and the .htaccess file in your wp-admin folder. If you do not see the root and wp-admin htaccess files then select “Show Hidden Files” in your FTP application or in your web host control panel file manager.
See Custom Code Note
2. Log into your website and Activate all BulletProof Modes.Custom Code Note: If you have isolated a problem to the root or wp-admin .htaccess file and you have added additional custom .htaccess code or additional .htaccess code from another plugin to BPS Custom Code then you can either use the Custom Code Export|Import|Delete Tools or manually cut (not Copy) all of your additional custom .htaccess code out of all BPS Custom Code text boxes and save that custom .htaccess code to a Notepad or Notepad++ text file, Click the Save Root Custom Code button (or the wp-admin Custom Code button), go to the BPS Security Modes page and click the Root Folder BulletProof Mode Activate button (and/or the wp-admin Folder BulletProof Mode Activate button). You can then further isolate which custom .htaccess code is the problem by adding only 1 block of additional custom code back into each BPS Custom Code text box at a time and do all of the Custom Code steps. Then add another block of custom code and do all of the Custom Code steps, etc.

SteveOhParticipantHi and thanks for the reply.
That worked I can now login.
Thanks for the great support….SteveOhParticipantNoooooooooo…..
I went back later this afternoon and its the same error.
Any ideas what is causing it??AITpro AdminKeymasterWhat worked before? What did you do to fix the problem? What changed since you fixed the problem?
SteveOhParticipantHi. I followed your instructions
- delete this file first: /wp-content/bps-backup/autorestore/root-files/auto_.htaccess
- delete the .htaccess file in your WordPress installation folder
- Log into your website and Activate all BulletProof Modes.
Nothing changed since this morning.
AITpro AdminKeymasterOk yep, the problem is that you did not remove/delete the custom code that is causing the problem. So you need to do the steps again and after you login, go to Custom Code and delete the custom code that is causing the problem, save your changes and then activate BulletProof Modes.
malcolmParticipantI have, at least I think I do the same problem with the free version (which I believe is blocking everyone) but I can log in via a VPN.
As I can log in via VPN would uninstalling BPS and going through the set up wizard be the easiest way to fix the problem?
thanks for any adviceAITpro AdminKeymaster@ malcom – Use FTP and check your root htaccess file for any additional htaccess code that could be causing this problem. The default BPS root htaccess code does not block by IP addresses or have any other htaccess code that would cause this problem. So if you added any additional custom htaccess code or another plugin has added additional htaccess code to the BPS root htaccess then that htaccess code would be causing the problem. If you are using any other security plugins then you want to deactivate those plugins during troubleshooting to see if one of your other security plugins is causing this problem.
We are currently experiencing problems with our web host mail server and automated emails are not being sent from this forum site. Hopefully our web host will get this fixed soon.

hi: problem with BPS, when trying to login: 403 forbidden error. I have deactivated (root folder bulletProof mode activating button), and it lets me login. the problem is that i receive alert: “site does not appear to be protected. how can i fix the 403 error and have thed bps security mode activated. i have read some information, but dont know how to work it out.
thanks for your help.
AITpro AdminKeymaster@ NelsonG – Most likely you are using the IP address blocking Bonus Custom Code in this forum topic > https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/protect-login-page-from-brute-force-login-attacks/ Do the steps below to delete/remove the IP blocking custom code from BPS Root Custom Code.
1. Go to the BPS Custom Code tab page.
2. Click the Root htaccess File Custom Code accordion button.
3. Scroll down and remove/delete the IP address blocking Bonus Custom Code from whichever Custom Code text box it is added in.
4. Click the Save Root Custom Code button.
5. Go to the Security Modes tab page and click the Root Folder BulletProof Mode Activate button. -
