This was the site that was running http when I installed BPS Pro. I want this site running https but need to get a new activation key (completely forgot the link you sent earlier). And yes, I did something wrong possibly.

Since this site only had a simple landing page running, my logic was to deactivate and delete the existing BPS pro install. This would let me turn on SSL, and get the LiteSpeed Caching plugin running before reinstalling BPS Pro.

    Here’s what I did.

    1. Deactivated and Deleted BPS Pro.
    2. Then I enabled SSL.
    3. Changed my WordPress URL’s in the “General” tab to reflect https versus http.
    4. Logged out and back into wp-admin with the new https url.
    5. Reactivated the LiteSpeed Cache plugin and let it do its thing.
    6. Reinstalled BPS Pro and activated the plugin.
    7. On the BPS Pro activation page, I put in the only download request key that I have. (I’ve actually been using the same key for the last 3 websites. I hope that’s correct?? Or is one DL Request Key needed per website? If so, I don’t see directions or process in place that shows how to request more Download Keys.)
    8. Clicked on the “Get Activation Key” button and received an error stating the following:

Error: BPS Pro Activation Key Request was unsuccessful.
Did you enter a valid Download-Request Key in the Save Download-Request Key text box and click the Save Download-Request Key button before clicking the Get Activation Key button? If this was not the cause of the error then copy the entire error message and send it in an email to info@ait-pro.com to get your BPS Pro Activation Key. Thank you.

    9. Not sure what to do now? Logged into my BPS Pro account to look at my activation keys and it’s still showing the “gracoservices.com” domain as being activated or having an activation key associated with the domain using http. In my (now proven) ill-logic… I thought deactivating and deleting BPS Pro for a given domain would remove the activation associated with it. I Guess not.

    Thanks for your help.

Your BPS Pro Download-Request Key is a master key/code of sorts that is used to request BPS Pro Activation Keys for each site.  BPS Pro Activation Keys are each site’s entire domain URL encrypted.  So each site and BPS Pro Activation Key will always be unique/specific to each site.

Double check that you are doing the BPS Pro Activation Key request steps below correctly.  If your server or something else you have installed is blocking communication to the AITpro.com API server then see this forum topic for possible causes of the problem > https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/wp-mu-plugin-update/#post-22887

    BPS Pro Activation Steps:
    1. Enter the BPS Pro Download-Request Key that was emailed to you when you purchased BPS Pro into the Save Download-Request Key text box and click the Save Download-Request Key button.
    2. Click the Get Activation Key button to get your BPS Pro Activation Key. Your Activation Key will be emailed to your PayPal email address that you used to purchase BPS Pro with.
    3. Copy and Paste the BPS Pro Activation Key that was emailed to your PayPal email address into the Save Activation Key text box and click the Save Activation Key button.

The steps are very simple and straight forward. I’ve done the same steps at the same webhost without issue 3 different time.

I had BPS Pro activated for http://gracoservices.com. It still reflects this when I login to my BPS Pro dashboard/page and click on “Get activation Keys”. Clearly shows the above url with the activation key used when I initially activated BPS Pro when the domain was running on http.

After deactivating and deleting the previous BPS Pro install, I downloaded a fresh install in my BPS Pro dashboard/page by submitting my download key. In WP the BPS Pro installs and plugin activates just fine. On the activation page, I place in my download key (ensuring there are no spaces on the front or the end of the key) and click on the “Get Activation Key” button. That’s when I receive the error.

Logging into my BPS Pro dashboard/page and clicking on get activation keys still shows the previous install and activation key when the domain was running http.

The link you sent, I went to. After looking, I don’t see anything that applies.

I can give you admin access to WP and give you access to cpanel if you would like?

Right now, BPS Pro is installed and still at the activation process.

When I ping your domain it is returning a 200 Response, which means that your host server is not actively blocking our API server.  So that probably means that something else that you have installed (plugin or theme) is causing the block/communication problem.  Try deactivating all of your other plugins and then try switching your theme to a default WordPress theme.  ie 2017, 2016, etc.

    That is weird.
Ok. I forgot to mention, I did open a ticket with the webhost about this and gave them the Aitpro server name and ip address.
I will follow your direction and reply back to this ticket. Thanks for your time in this matter.

Well actually I’m pretty sure your web host is not blocking our API server.  I was successfully able to ping your domain on Port 80, which usually means your host server is not actively blocking our API server domain or IP address.  The next most common problem is that you have another premium plugin or theme installed that uses API connections and those API connections break all other API connections in all other premium plugins and themes.  Unfortunately, that is a very common problem.  So you want to eliminate that as the cause of the problem.

I don’t get it. Following your advice worked. Deactivated the only two plugins I’m using and switched my Divi child them to the WP builtin 2017 theme worked.

Everything appears nearly identical to other installs I have. The only new difference was this LiteSpeed Plugin. So that must be the culprit.

Waiting on activation key. Will respond with the results.

    Thanks,

Yeah, the problem is usually something along the lines of an Action or Filter priority type of thing.  ie pluginX or themeX has set API server calls at a very high priority in a WP Hook (Action or Filter) that overrides other plugin or theme API server calls or worse, the API server code (communication, upgrade, etc) itself is simply fubar. 😉

    ROFL… (Fubar)

I did notice that there was an upgrade available for the Divi theme… But what ever. Making some headway now.

Still haven’t received email yet with activation key. Logged into BPS Pro account, checked get activation keys isn’t showing the new key yet either. I thought I remember this being a bit faster then this. I hate leaving WP sites open to the public without some kind of protection.

    Anyways… thanks bunches.

In the WordPress shared type of environment “fubar” stuff is a pretty regular event with some plugins and themes.  Usually things get fixed over time in other plugins and themes, but sometimes they never get fixed and they cause problems forever…  Just what is with WP. 😉  Yep, normally the entire BPS Pro Activation and Setup Wizard steps take less than 1 minute.

Good to know. Definitely disabling plugins and changing themes is a quick isolation test that’s simple and effective. Glad I only have 2 plugins. 🙂

Still haven’t received my activation key yet via email and it’s not showing when I login to my BPS Pro account “Get Activation Keys”. I usually have this key within minutes.

I checked the API server logs and there are not any communications/Requests sent from website/domain: gracoservices.com. If you would like for me to try to figure what on your server or website is blocking communications to our API server then send me a WordPress Administrator login to this site to: info at ait-pro dot com.

Ok… This time I left the two plugins activated and left my child theme in place. Went through the request process again and all is well. So last time, it must have been the Divi theme update that was causing this issue before.

It’s working now. Thanks for all your help.

Great!  Yeah, probably just some fubar API server communication code created by Elegant Themes.  I seem to recall that is a known issue, but it is not documented anywhere in the forum. 😉

Yeah, I think I’ll open up a ticket with them and pick their brain. I’m a lifetime member so hopefully that will help a little. If I receive any meaningful info I will come back and share what I’ve found.

Thanks again for all your time and useful feedback. Have a great weekend.
