Person tries to breaking in my site, and it does what it should. It Locks him out.  I get a email alert as you can see below. So, I then try to login and it also locks me out. Since I am the Admin, I should not be locked out. So, this should be a bug? Would I be correct?

    Sincerely,
    robert

You have an Admin username that is not secure/easy to guess and the username is also probably being displayed publicly.  You will need to create a new Admin user account and delete this exposed/compromised Admin user account.

Thank you for showing me the light about User Alias. This was something that I did not know about. I have just finished changing all my allies. Now that is what I CALL INCREDIBLE SERVICE. I love on how a person is taken care of for help. This is truly the best plugin for website security

    Take care

The hacker already knows the username/User Account you were using.  You need to create a new Administrator username/User Account and delete this old one.

Check this Forum Topic again for how to do this.

An example of a new good/secure username/User Account would be this:  B5Y3WKH49V8

    Good Day,

I was recently locked out due to entering a wrong password in wordpress. I am the owner of http://www.firecorpgrp.co.za. I am the admin with administrator rights, but I was locked out. Unfortunately to prevent unwanted people to try and get into the admin, I set it to try only 3 times to lockout and it locks one out for 90 days. I could not get into the admin, because these setting applied to me as well. My ISP helped me to get into the admin after disabling BPS. When I got in I unlocked my username and activated the plugin again. How can I get into the plugin if I would be locked out in future in order to unlock my account if this happens again?

    Regards
    Kobus

@ Kobus – this is a very old forum topic.  A lot of things have changed since 2013, 2 years ago.

For BPS free see the BPS Free troubleshooting steps:  http://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/read-me-first-free/#bps-free-general-troubleshooting.

    Good Day Ait pro Admin,

Thank you for the links, but unless I have missed something, I did not see how to log into my admin if I have been locked out due to my own stupidity by entering the password wrong. The Pro version has the following option.
“To access/view the BPS Pro Xternal Tools (XTF) page enter this URL in your Browser:
    http://www.your-website-domain.com/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/admin/xternal/xternal.php"

Could you help with this? Even my IP could get in and disable BPS in order to enable me to log in and make the necessary changes. I want to do this on my own without knocking on my IP’s door when this happens.

    Kind Regards
    Kobus

You can use the manual method of renaming the /bulletproof-security/ plugin folder to /_bulletproof-security/.  Login to your site.  Rename the /_bulletproof-security/ folder back to /bulletproof-security/.  Go to Login Security and unlock your user account.

    Good Day Ait pro Admin,

Thank you, I just need to clarify: –
I must log into my CMS
    go to the File manager
In my case it is public_html/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security
    Rename this folder bulletproof-security above
    Do the changes
Rename the folder in 4 again to the correct name

Sorry, I am Electronically Disadvantaged, but I am learning.

Yes, rename the /bulletproof-security/ plugin folder, login, rename it back to its original name, unlock your user account.

I have been locked out of my WP admin as you will notice as per my previous correspondence. Below is a summary of a manual recovery if you like me put in the wrong password more than 3 x by mistake: –
If you are locked out of WP admin with Bullet Proof due to wrong password.

    • Log into your CMS.
    • Go to Cpanel
    • Go to the File manager.
    • Look for the Folder bulletproof-security.
    • In my case the folder is public_html/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security.
    • Rename this folder bulletproof-security above to _ bulletproof-security.
    • Login your WP admin with correct username and password. Note that the Bullet Proof Plugin does not show in the side bar.
    • Stay Logged in, and follow points 1 to 5 again and rename _bulletproof-security back to bulletproof-security.
    • Now the Bullet Proof Plugin will show. (It might take a few seconds)
    • Go to BPS Security in the side bar.
    • Go to LogIn Security under the Bullet Proof Plug In.
    • Search for the locked account.
    • Unlock the account and press the submit button
    • Log out and log in normally.
