    Hi,

    on my local installation: MAMP pro 7.2.3 with WordPress 6.8 version PHP 7.4.33 I can’t activate bulletproof-security: internal server error 500. On the other hand, if I upgrade to PHP 8.1 I have no problem activating bulletproof-security PRO.
    This bothers me because I’d like to be able to stay with PHP 7.4.33 for a while longer, while I run some tests.
    Can you help me?

    Sounds like there is some invalid htaccess code in your root htaccess file and BPS Custom Code text boxes.  Use FTP or your web host control panel file manager and delete the root htaccess file then do the steps in this forum topic > https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/critical-error-after-setup-wizard/#post-44193
