Thanks for the detailed instructions – I understand what I’m trying to do now. All ready to go with my cPanel, but when I activated WP Edit this time… no errors at all! So my plan is to keep an eye on this site and when/if the php error reoccurs and is reliably frequent again I will run through the tests as you’ve described above and will update with the results here.
many thanks. j

Intermittent problems are usually related to cache, Proxy, CDN, cloud, server configuration problems.

Why am I getting this error? I have BPS Pro installed on two other websites (on different domains) and I don’t get this error on those websites. This has been happening since I installed BPS Pro this past Monday.[23-Jun-2016 14:47:45 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bpsPro_AP_Check() (previously declared in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/includes/functions.php:54) in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/includes/functions.php on line 64
Thank you!

@ Jeff – Do you have a Network|Multisite WordPress website? Do you have the WP Edit plugin installed? If so, there is a known problem with the WP Edit plugin that causes this php error in BPS: http://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/php-fatal-error-cannot-redeclare-bpspro_ap_check/page/4/#post-25456 At this time the WP Edit plugin author has not fixed whatever is causing this problem.
JeffParticipantI don’t have a Network|Multisite WordPress website, but I did have WP Edit installed. Did. It is now deactivated. I do not have that plugin installed on the other two websites, which explains why I don’t have this BPS error message on those websites. I’m using Weaver Xtreme and the suggestion to install WP Edit came from them.
Thank you for the speedy resolution to this issue. It is most appreciated!
Jeff

@ Jeff – Thanks for providing confirmation that WP Edit is the “stinker” plugin. ha ha ha. I have been working briefly with Josh the author of the WP Edit plugin, but what is baffling both of us is we cannot reproduce this error. So that makes it very difficult to guess why this error is occurring. The BPS Pro 11.9 release was a major version release so all of our time has been wrapped up into getting our i’s dotted and our t’s crossed. 😉 Anyway we will have some time to try and figure this damn thing out in the next week or so.
JeffParticipantJust wanted to update you to confirm that I have not received any error messages for 24 hours. The issue has to be WPEdit. Thanks for the rapid response!

When using EventEspresso and trying to download a CSV I get the following errorFatal error: Cannot redeclare bpsPro_Browser_UA_scroll_animation() (previously declared in /home/example/public_html/Conf/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/includes/functions.php:13) in /home/example/public_html/Conf/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/includes/functions.php on line 96
BPS is not showing any information in the log and the log is turned on and writable.

The problem could also be caused by these things: Intermittent problems are typically going to be related to things like: php memory/cache/caching plugins/CDN’s/VPN’s/Proxy’s/Load Balancers/Host server problems (DNS server/DNS configuration problem, MySQL server timeout, server overloaded, etc), /Browser problems (corrupt cache, Sessions, Cookies, add-on, extension)/ISP (connectivity)/CloudFlare, etc.
