Here are the results of testing Theme My Login with BPS. I installed Theme My Login and did not do any additional customizations and used the default Theme My Login setup.
If both Theme My Login and BPS Login Security are turned On/enabled then Theme My Login will always override BPS login security.
When I uncheck Theme My Login Enable Security and save settings in Theme My Login (and on the Theme My Login Security Settings page) and enable login security in BPS and save settings then BPS login security works normally and login error messages displayed normally.
When I turn off BPS login security and enable Theme My Login login security then Theme My Login login security works normally.
Here is an interesting thing. With Theme My Login login security enabled and BPS login security enabled and using BPS Log All Account Logins. Theme My Login login security overrides BPS login security, but the BPS Log All Account Logins feature/option still works correctly.
So I am not sure why login security error messages were displaying blank on your site. The only logical things I can think of are: you customized Theme My Login in a way that i did not test or all setting options were not saved in either Theme My Login or BPS or both.
The BPS Pro JTC Anti-Spam|Anti-Hacker and BPS free plugin feature is also overridden by the Theme My Login plugin. Unfortunately, JTC needs to be turned Off since it is overridden by the Theme My Login plugin. The Theme My Login plugin may include a CAPTCHA feature in the future. So the solution would be to use the CAPTCHA feature in the Theme My Login plugin.
Additional General Info: https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/plugin-conflicts-actively-blocked-plugins-plugin-compatibility/
Plugin Conflict: A plugin conflict would be a scenario where you are using 2 plugins or plugin features that do the exact or a very similar thing. Example: You are using 2 Login Security features on your website. If both Login Security features are calling the same WordPress Hooks (actions and/or filters) then the 2 plugins will compete with each other and 1 plugin will always override the other plugin. The solution is to choose whichever Login Security feature you want to use in either Plugin and then turn off the Login Security feature in the other plugin.

ParticipantThanks, I’ll keep an eye out if the Theme my login causes any problems.
Any thoughts as to why the invalid characters only were visible when using cut and not copy (they weren’t viewable in the BPS custom code / file editor either, nor directly on the htaccess file via ftp). Would have pinpointed problem earlier if these “invisible” characters were visible.

KeymasterThe only logical things I can think of is the original code that was copied contained the encoded equivalents of the code and the Custom Code text boxes were displaying the rendered equivalent code characters. We made some changes a couple of BPS versions ago to address that possibility so maybe that is why?
Or the other possibility is the .htaccess code was copied to and from an application like Microsoft Word. .htaccess code can only be copied to and from Notepad or Notepad++ otherwise the formatting of the .htaccess code will be corrupted and contain hidden formatting from Word, etc.
