SyxgunsParticipant
I’m running PHP v8.3 and getting an error on a BPS PHP file.
"Warning: unserialize(): Error at offset 0 of 15 bytes in /.../.../.../wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/bulletproof-security.php on line 237"
I know very little PHP, so I am not sure if I should roll back my version of PHP to an older version or if this is something that may be addressed in an update.
Please advise on the best path to follow.
AITpro AdminKeymasterAre you using the LiteSpeed Cache plugin? If so, take a look at this forum topic > https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/unserialize-error-at-offset-0-of-15-bytes-in-bulletproof-security-php-on-line-237/
That code with the php error is the BPS Pro upgrade checking code. What the error means is that BPS Pro is unable to communicate with the api.ait-pro.com API server. It could be an intermittent problem usually caused by caching. Either in a WP caching plugin or server-side caching. You can try clearing/deleting all cache and double check caching settings.
SyxgunsParticipantLightspeed Cache is a real headache. My host uses Lightspeed but does not allow for the use of full server resources. I think I will switch to WP-Rocket or another cache. I will do some research first, but I may change today. Maybe the cache is behind a lot of my issues. I turned off the object cache, and my site got faster, go figure!
AITpro AdminKeymasterYep caching is very tricky. In my experience less is better when it comes to caching, meaning if you use a simple caching strategy without adding additional caching mechanisms then you are less likely to run into problems. Ideally if you have a well optimized theme and site then you don’t really need a lot of caching stuff going on.
SyxgunsParticipantI got WP-Rocket, and my ranking for mobile on PageSpeed Insights is 88 and 100 on desktop! I’ll get that 88 up as I convert my images to WebP format. I am hoping to get mobile up in the mid 90’s. If not, 88 is still an excellent score. Before I started, I checked to see if there was a difference. Mobile was in the 60s, and the desktop was in the 80s with a Litespeed cache.
So far, I have not had any issues with BPS. I did have to unlock the .htaccess and config.php files. WP-Rocket suggested leaving those open so it can make changes as I make changes on the site. Once the site is finished, I will lock them back down. I’ve been running with the cache most of the day, and I have not had another PHP warning with BPS, so I think I’m in good shape!
Thanks for your input on the matter!
